Akre Rice Exports Reach U.S. Markets

Akre – The Kurdistan Region’s “first class” rice from Akre is now reaching American markets, marking a major milestone for local agriculture.

This achievement reflects the KRG’s ongoing strategy to modernize farming, support farmers, and expand Kurdistan’s presence in international trade. The export deal opens new opportunities for local producers and showcases the quality of Kurdish agricultural products abroad.

Officials explained that the rice undergoes strict quality control and packaging standards to meet international market requirements. Farmers in Akre celebrated the development, noting that it boosts income, creates jobs, and encourages younger generations to remain in agriculture.

The initiative also highlights the KRG’s efforts to diversify the regional economy, reduce reliance on oil, and invest in sustainable sectors like farming. Experts predict that expanding exports will strengthen Kurdistan’s economic resilience and international reputation.

Moreover, the project encourages innovation, mechanization, and modern cultivation techniques in rice production, ensuring higher yields and consistent quality for both domestic consumption and export markets.

Local authorities announced plans to support additional agricultural products for export, aiming to replicate Akre rice’s success across other crops in the Kurdistan Region.
