Kurdistan–Jordan Relations Strengthen as PM Barzani Meets New Consul General

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met the new Jordanian Consul General, Ahmad Batarseh, and welcomed him to his post. The Prime Minister congratulated him on beginning his mission and highlighted the long and trusted partnership between Kurdistan and Jordan.

During the meeting, PM Barzani emphasized the deep historic ties that connect the two sides. He noted that both governments maintain strong cooperation in trade, education, and security. He also stressed that both sides can expand these areas even further. Moreover, he encouraged the new consul to help build stronger economic links, especially in investment and tourism.

Consul General Batarseh thanked PM Barzani for the warm reception and affirmed Jordan’s commitment to developing relations with the Kurdistan Region. He expressed readiness to work closely with Erbil’s institutions and strengthen coordination across different sectors.

The discussion also covered regional developments. Both sides agreed that stability and dialogue serve the best interests of the Middle East. They also agreed that stronger bilateral ties can support positive change and sustainable growth.

As the meeting concluded, PM Barzani reaffirmed Kurdistan’s willingness to continue close cooperation with Jordan. He stated that deeper ties will benefit both peoples and open new opportunities for progress.
