Masrour Barzani and Faiq Zidan Discuss New Federal Cabinet

Iraq entered another decisive stage, and leaders met in Duhok to shape the next federal government. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomed Judge Faiq Zidan for detailed talks about the formation of a new cabinet. Both leaders focused on building a service-oriented government that meets public needs. Moreover, they stressed that Iraq requires strong institutions to handle rising challenges.

Barzani highlighted the importance of full constitutional implementation. He stated that every agreement must follow clear legal rules. He also emphasized that the Kurdistan Region’s entity needs firm protection. Furthermore, he argued that respect for constitutional rights strengthens trust between Erbil and Baghdad. With that, he encouraged all sides to support fair decision-making.

Zidan agreed and called for steady cooperation. He noted that Iraq needs a government that delivers real improvements. He explained that citizens expect efficient services and honest leadership. Additionally, he underlined that political actors must avoid unnecessary disputes. Therefore, he urged all groups to focus on practical steps that move the country forward.

Both leaders also discussed the urgent need to establish the Federal Council. They stressed that Iraq cannot progress without this key institution. They argued that the council creates balance and protects regional rights. Moreover, they insisted that the council encourages broader participation in national decisions. As a result, they agreed to push for its creation in the next political phase.
