PM Masrour Barzani Explains KRG Cabinet Delay

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stated that political disagreements delayed forming the new KRG cabinet before Iraqi elections. He explained that differing priorities among parties prevented an agreement at the time. However, he added that the cabinet formation will now proceed under new circumstances.

Barzani also clarified the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s conditions for joining Baghdad’s government. He said the KDP requires full constitutional implementation before committing to federal cooperation. Moreover, he highlighted that adhering to the constitution ensures fairness, stability, and protection of regional rights.

Regarding financial matters, Barzani confirmed that Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani promised to send salaries for the Kurdistan Region. He stressed that timely payments are crucial to maintain public trust and the smooth functioning of institutions. Furthermore, he noted that coordination with Baghdad demonstrates a willingness to cooperate despite past delays.

Barzani emphasized that resolving disagreements through dialogue remains the best path forward. He encouraged all political actors to prioritize citizens’ needs and practical solutions over partisan disputes. As a result, observers expect progress in forming the KRG cabinet and renewed collaboration between Erbil and Baghdad.

Together, these steps signal Kurdistan’s focus on constitutional governance, financial stability, and political cooperation. Leaders hope this approach will strengthen institutions and foster public confidence across the region.
