Kurdistan: Officials Detail 122mm Grad Missile Strike on Khor Mor

Kurdish security teams revealed new details about the latest attack on the Khor Mor gas field. They said the assailants launched a 122mm Grad missile from a position roughly three kilometers away. The strike hit a key part of the facility and forced an immediate halt in production. Moreover, the shutdown created severe power shortages across several areas in the Kurdistan Region.

Authorities moved quickly to reach the site and secure the area. They began a full investigation and gathered evidence from the impact zone. They also coordinated with technical teams to assess the damage and prepare repair plans. In addition, officials said that engineers aim to restore operations as soon as conditions allow.

Kurdish leaders condemned the attack and described it as a clear act of terrorism. They argued that the strike targeted a vital source of electricity for hundreds of thousands of people. Furthermore, they said the attackers tried to weaken the region’s energy stability and disrupt daily life.

Security officials also increased patrols around strategic facilities after the incident. They urged local communities to stay alert and report suspicious activity. At the same time, they emphasized that the region needs stronger defensive measures to prevent similar attacks.

Kurdish authorities also called on international partners to support the region’s efforts to protect critical infrastructure. They said that continued cooperation will help maintain energy security and reduce the risk of further escalation.
