Kurdistan: KRG Restores Gas Flow from Khor Mor, Power Output to Stabilize

The Kurdistan Regional Government announced that gas flow from the Khor Mor field has resumed, and authorities expect electricity output to fully stabilize within 24 hours. Technical teams worked continuously to repair damaged equipment, and engineers coordinated closely to ensure safe resumption of production. Moreover, energy officials monitored every system to prevent further disruptions and protect the region’s electricity supply.

KRG spokespeople said power generation is steadily recovering, and neighborhoods affected by the previous outages are gradually regaining electricity. They explained that stabilizing output requires careful balancing of gas transfers with demand at power stations. In addition, officials confirmed that emergency protocols remain active to manage any unexpected challenges during the recovery process.

Energy authorities also urged Baghdad to provide guarantees for the security of critical infrastructure. They argued that stronger coordination between federal and regional forces is essential to prevent future attacks. Moreover, officials stressed the importance of proactive measures, including modern surveillance and defensive systems, to protect gas fields and pipelines from potential threats.

KRG leadership praised the rapid response of technical and security teams. They emphasized that timely action prevented further escalation of outages and minimized the impact on households, hospitals, and businesses. Furthermore, they said the incident highlights the strategic importance of Khor Mor for the region’s energy stability.

Officials promised continued updates to the public and reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding Kurdistan’s energy infrastructure. They also called for international support in protecting vital facilities from recurring attacks.
