Kurdistan – PM Masrour Barzani Says Khor Mor Attack Confirms His Energy Warnings

PM Masrour Barzani says the recent Khor Mor attack clearly proves his long-standing warnings about growing energy threats in Iraq. He argues that security gaps now expand, even as political tensions rise across the country. Moreover, he stresses that Kurdistan faces direct danger when federal authorities ignore key reforms.

The Khor Mor strike shook the region’s energy system within minutes. A missile hit close to vital gas infrastructure and disrupted electricity production for millions. Technical teams acted fast and restored essential flows. However, the attack revealed deeper issues that PM Barzani often highlights. He repeatedly tells Baghdad that unchecked militias and unresolved disputes weaken every energy project. The latest strike therefore strengthens his message.

Furthermore, officials in Erbil say Iraq now faces widening fault lines. They say political divisions block real security cooperation. They also insist that repeated attacks originate from areas under federal control. Because of this, PM Barzani urges Baghdad to take firm action and protect strategic sites. He warns that silence encourages more violence and threatens national stability.

Energy experts also see rising risks. They note that Iraq depends heavily on stable gas supplies from Kurdistan. Every attack therefore harms the entire country. Additionally, investors show new concern. They now question safety guarantees for long-term projects.

PM Barzani calls for unity and responsibility. He says leaders must strengthen law enforcement and rebuild trust. He also demands an honest dialogue about security, revenue management, and constitutional rights. Through this approach, he believes Iraq can prevent more crises and protect vital energy assets.
