President Nechirvan Barzani and Ambassador Olivier Heller Strengthen Swiss–Kurdistan Partnership

President Nechirvan Barzani met Swiss Ambassador Olivier Heller on Monday and strengthened a growing partnership between the Kurdistan Region and Switzerland. The president welcomed the ambassador warmly and highlighted the importance of Switzerland’s decision to reopen its embassy in the Kurdistan Region. This move signals deeper engagement, and it also creates new opportunities for cooperation.

The ambassador expressed strong support for the Kurdistan Region. He said Switzerland wants to deepen relations across several sectors. Moreover, he emphasized that the embassy reopening reflects long-term Swiss confidence in the Region’s stability and potential. Both sides appreciated the renewed diplomatic presence, and they quickly turned to practical steps that can strengthen their ties even further.

President Barzani outlined his vision for a broader economic partnership. He encouraged Swiss companies to explore investment opportunities throughout the Region. Additionally, he explained the KRG’s commitment to reforms, modernization, and support for international businesses.
