Kurdistan – President Barzani and Confederation Leader Khalid Azad Discuss Kurdish Diaspora Influence

President Masoud Barzani met Khalid Azad, a senior official from the Kurdistani Diaspora Confederation, and held a detailed discussion about the growing global role of the Kurdish diaspora. The president welcomed Azad warmly and emphasized the importance of stronger links between the diaspora and the homeland. Both sides quickly agreed that Kurdish communities abroad shape international perceptions and strengthen Kurdish identity.

Azad outlined the confederation’s recent activities. He explained how Kurdish organizations across Europe, America, and other regions build cultural bridges. Moreover, he highlighted how these communities promote Kurdish rights, support humanitarian projects, and encourage unity among Kurds living abroad. President Barzani praised these efforts and urged the confederation to expand its outreach even further.

The president also stressed that the diaspora’s influence grows every year. He noted that Kurdish professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and activists contribute to global conversations. Additionally, he encouraged them to invest in Kurdistan, share their expertise, and help new generations stay connected to their heritage. Azad welcomed these ideas and shared several plans that aim to strengthen cooperation between diaspora institutions and the Region.

Furthermore, both sides examined ongoing challenges. They discussed ways to support Kurdish youth abroad, encourage cultural preservation, and counter misinformation about the Kurdish cause. President Barzani reaffirmed his commitment to empowering diaspora communities. He also called for continuous dialogue, more coordinated efforts, and stronger engagement across all continents.
