President Nechirvan Barzani Calls for Ceasefire Amid Syria Clashes

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani expressed deep concern over the escalating clashes in Syria. He called on all parties to immediately implement a ceasefire and halt further violence.

President Barzani emphasized that protecting civilians and maintaining stability in the region must remain a top priority. He noted that ongoing hostilities threaten the security of both Kurdish communities and other local populations.

Furthermore, he stressed that the rights of Kurds and all communities in Syria must be fully respected. He highlighted that these rights should be guaranteed in any future Syrian constitution. By ensuring inclusion, he argued, Syria can achieve long-term stability and coexistence.

President Barzani urged regional actors and the international community to support diplomatic solutions. He encouraged mediation efforts to prevent further escalation and to restore calm in conflict-affected areas.

He also highlighted the critical role of dialogue between Syrian parties. According to Barzani, political engagement is the only sustainable way to resolve disputes and prevent future crises.

The Kurdistan Region leadership underlined its commitment to humanitarian assistance. They continue providing support to displaced persons affected by the fighting. Additionally, President Barzani called for access to aid for all affected communities.

Observers noted that the president’s statement reflects Kurdistan’s proactive role in promoting peace. Analysts said Barzani continues to act as a bridge between international actors and local stakeholders in Syria.

Moreover, the president emphasized that protecting minority rights is central to regional peace. He warned that ignoring these rights could undermine any political settlement and prolong the conflict.

President Barzani also reaffirmed Kurdistan’s support for international efforts to stabilize Syria. He encouraged collaboration among neighboring countries, the United Nations, and humanitarian organizations to achieve peace.

Finally, he reiterated that sustained dialogue, protection of rights, and international coordination are essential to end the violence. Barzani called for immediate action to safeguard civilians and prevent further displacement.
