Former United States official Victoria Taylor welcomed the SDF–Damascus ceasefire and described it as an important step toward reducing tensions in Syria. Moreover, she emphasized continued American engagement to ensure the agreement holds and protects Kurdish communities.
Speaking about the SDF–Damascus ceasefire, Taylor highlighted Washington’s diplomatic role in supporting stability. In addition, she noted that both the U.S. administration and Congress back efforts to prevent renewed violence. Therefore, she stressed that safeguarding Kurdish rights remains a shared priority in U.S. policy discussions.
Taylor explained that the ceasefire helps reduce the risk of further escalation in northern Syria. At the same time, she said it opens space for dialogue between local forces and central authorities. Consequently, she argued that sustained international attention remains essential for lasting stability.
Furthermore, Taylor underlined the importance of monitoring the SDF–Damascus ceasefire on the ground. She added that international partners must remain engaged to prevent violations. As a result, she called for continued coordination among allies to support calm and civilian protection.
She also pointed out that Kurdish communities have faced repeated security threats in recent years. Therefore, she stressed that any political process must respect Kurdish rights and local governance structures. In her view, ignoring these concerns would risk renewed instability.
As discussions continue, Taylor said U.S. institutions will remain involved through diplomatic and political channels. Ultimately, she expressed hope that the SDF–Damascus ceasefire can lead to broader stability and reduce suffering across Syria.
