Iran’s Consul General in Erbil: Relations with Kurdistan Region Strong Across All Sectors

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Iran Kurdistan Region relations remain strong across all sectors, according to Iran’s Consul General in Erbil, who expressed interest in expanding cooperation further.

“We have good relations with the Kurdistan Region in all sectors, and we want to develop our relations further,” Consul General Nasrollah Assadi said in remarks to local media.

The diplomat emphasized that Tehran maintains constructive engagement with the Kurdistan Region in political, economic, trade, and social fields. He noted that cross-border cooperation continues to play an important role in strengthening bilateral ties.

Iran Kurdistan Region relations include trade exchanges, energy cooperation, and coordination on border affairs. Officials from both sides regularly meet to address mutual interests and manage shared challenges. Therefore, communication channels remain active and ongoing.

Assadi also highlighted the importance of economic collaboration. He stated that trade between Iran and the Kurdistan Region contributes to local markets and regional stability. Border crossings facilitate the movement of goods and support business communities on both sides.

In addition, the Consul General pointed to cultural and social connections between the two neighboring regions. Historical ties and geographic proximity continue to shape cooperation frameworks.
