ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The KRG repatriation of stranded citizens effort has intensified after regional airspace closures left hundreds unable to return home.
The head of the Department of Foreign Relations, Safin Dizayee, announced that authorities allocated two transport lines in the Garmiyan area to assist citizens stranded abroad. He explained that the initiative aims to ease their return to the Kurdistan Region.
For four consecutive days, Iraqi airspace and parts of Gulf airspace have remained closed due to escalating tensions linked to conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. As a result, many citizens of the Kurdistan Region have found themselves unable to travel back home.
Dizayee stated that the KRG coordinated with the Turkish Consulate in the Kurdistan Region to facilitate transit arrangements. Authorities secured a five-day visa for individuals who wish to return via Turkey. This measure applies to citizens who traveled abroad temporarily and to residents of foreign countries currently visiting the region.

Officials also urged citizens abroad to remain in contact with Kurdistan Region representatives and follow official updates regarding travel routes. They advised travelers to confirm border and transit requirements before beginning their journey.
