ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Dana Gas has temporarily suspended operations at the Khor Mor gas field due to growing regional security concerns.
The company said the decision was taken as a precaution to ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure.
Khor Mor is one of the largest gas fields in the Kurdistan Region. It plays a key role in supplying natural gas for electricity generation across the region.
However, Dana Gas confirmed it is working closely with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The coordination aims to monitor the situation and maintain operational readiness.
In addition, the company stated that technical teams remain prepared to resume production when conditions allow.
Meanwhile, officials stressed that the temporary suspension does not change the company’s long-term commitment to energy development in the Kurdistan Region.
The Khor Mor field has previously faced security challenges. Nevertheless, it remains a critical energy source for the Kurdistan Region’s power sector.
Authorities continue to monitor the security environment closely. Therefore, further decisions will depend on developments in the coming days.
