ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Drone attacks have targeted Peshmerga bases in Erbil and Sulaimani, injuring three personnel, according to officials.
The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs condemned the incidents, describing them as “terrorist acts” aimed at destabilizing the region. The ministry said the attacks targeted military positions in separate locations.
In addition, Officials confirmed that three members of the Peshmerga forces were injured. The injuries were reported as non-life-threatening, and the wounded received medical treatment.
The ministry stressed that such attacks pose a serious threat to security and stability in the Kurdistan Region. It warned that continued assaults on security forces could escalate tensions further.
In its statement, the ministry called on the Iraqi federal government to take immediate action. It urged Baghdad to prevent armed groups from carrying out attacks and to hold those responsible accountable.
The ministry also emphasized the importance of coordination between Erbil and Baghdad. It said joint efforts are necessary to protect security forces and maintain stability.
Moreover, Officials noted that the attacks come amid rising tensions across the region. They warned that continued instability could have wider consequences.
The Ministry of Peshmerga reaffirmed its commitment to defending the Kurdistan Region. It said security forces remain prepared to respond to any threats.
Authorities are investigating the incidents to determine those responsible. Security measures have been increased around military positions following the attacks.
