ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Iraqi Parliament has condemned the recent attacks targeting the residence of President Nechirvan Barzani, warning of a dangerous escalation in the country’s security situation.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the Parliament Presidency described the incidents as “a dangerous escalation in security.” It stressed that such acts do not serve the higher interests of Iraq. Moreover, lawmakers strongly denounced the attacks. They emphasized that targeting political leadership threatens national stability and undermines public confidence.
In addition, the statement called for restraint. Officials urged all parties to avoid actions that could further increase tensions across the country. Parliament highlighted the importance of unity. It stressed that cooperation between political forces is essential to maintaining stability.
At the same time, the Presidency called for a thorough investigation. It emphasized the need to identify those responsible and hold them accountable. Officials also warned that continued escalation could have serious consequences. They noted that Iraq faces multiple challenges that require coordinated responses.
