Kurdistan PM Masrour Barzani , U.S. Energy Secretary Discuss Oil Exports and Energy Security

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani held discussions with Chris Wright on oil exports and regional energy security, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Kurdistan Region’s energy sector.

During the meeting, both sides highlighted the role of pipeline exports from the Kurdistan Region. They stressed that these exports are vital for Iraq’s economy and contribute to stability in global energy markets. Moreover, Barzani underlined the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to resuming and maintaining oil exports. He emphasized that cooperation with Baghdad remains essential to ensure sustainable energy flows.

In addition, Wright reaffirmed U.S. support for strengthening Iraq’s energy sector. He noted that stable and reliable exports from the Kurdistan Region play a key role in global supply chains. Both sides discussed broader regional developments. They highlighted the need to protect energy infrastructure from security threats.

At the same time, Barzani stressed the importance of economic stability. He said that increasing public revenues through oil exports remains a priority for the Kurdistan Regional Government.
