Soran Electricity Directorate Suspends Office Visits for 13 Days Amid Runaki System Upgrade

SORAN, Kurdistan Region – The General Directorate of Electricity in Soran has issued a notice urging residents across the Soran Independent Administration not to visit electricity sales offices for a period of 13 days.

According to the official statement, the measure comes as part of efforts to reorganize operations and install a new shared electricity system. Officials confirmed that the process will continue until April 13, 2026. Moreover, the directorate emphasized that the upgrade aims to improve service quality. It also seeks to make processes faster and more efficient for residents.

In addition, authorities explained that the new system will enable more services to be handled electronically in the future. This step is expected to reduce the need for in-person visits. Furthermore, residents will be able to manage their electricity-related services through the “Runaki” project and the e-post system. These platforms aim to simplify procedures and enhance accessibility.

At the same time, officials highlighted the scale of the service area. The Soran Electricity Directorate currently serves around 90,000 subscribers across six districts. Meanwhile, the Runaki project has made significant progress in the region. The central areas of Soran already benefit from 24-hour electricity, with surrounding areas gradually being included.

Therefore, authorities confirmed that electricity distribution will soon be fully transitioned to the Runaki system. This move is expected to provide continuous power across the entire Soran administration.

The directorate called on residents to cooperate and follow the guidelines. Officials stressed that these temporary measures will help ensure better and more reliable electricity services in the near future.
