KRG Implements Measures to Stabilize Food Imports and Markets Amid Regional Tensions

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The KRG has taken steps to facilitate food imports and stabilize markets amid ongoing regional tensions.

Health Minister Saman Barzinji met with Hogir Ali, alongside food traders and import company representatives. Officials from the World Health Organization also attended the meeting.

During the discussions, participants reviewed the current state of food and beverage trade. They also addressed challenges caused by regional instability.

Moreover, officials agreed to introduce full facilitation measures for traders and companies involved in food imports. These steps aim to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted supply of essential goods.

In addition, authorities stressed that the move seeks to prevent price increases and market monopolies. They emphasized that protecting consumers remains a top priority.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining stable supply chains. Officials said continuous coordination between government bodies and the private sector is essential.

At the same time, the KRG reassured citizens about food availability. Earlier, Nawzad Sheikh Kamil confirmed that there are sufficient food reserves in storage.

He stated that available supplies can meet demand for at least six months. Therefore, authorities expect no shortages despite regional developments.

Officials continue to monitor market conditions closely. They warned against any attempts to exploit the situation through price manipulation.

The KRG aims to balance supply and demand while supporting traders. These measures are expected to help maintain stability and ensure access to essential food items across the Kurdistan Region.
