ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Region Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs has condemned a new wave of drone attacks targeting its forces, warning of further action if the situation continues.
On the night of April 5, armed groups carried out another attack using four explosive drones. The drones targeted a Peshmerga base in the Kurdistan Region. Moreover, the ministry said such attacks have increased in recent days. Several areas across the Region have witnessed repeated strikes against Peshmerga positions.
In addition, officials described the attacks as acts of terrorism. They stressed that these operations have caused both human casualties and material damage. The ministry criticized the response from Iraqi Armed Forces and other security institutions. It said no serious action has been taken to stop these attacks.
At the same time, officials emphasized the role of the Peshmerga forces. They described them as a key part of Iraq’s defense system and a major contributor to regional stability. Therefore, the ministry called for immediate action. It urged federal authorities to prevent further attacks and hold those responsible accountable.
The statement highlighted growing frustration within the Kurdistan Region. Officials warned that continued inaction could lead to alternative measures.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the Region. However, it stressed that responsibility also lies with federal authorities to ensure security and stability.
