According to an official statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency, both sides emphasized the need for continued coordination. They highlighted the role of the Peshmerga forces, the Iraqi Army, and other Iraqi security institutions. In addition, coalition partners were described as essential to maintaining stability.
During the meeting, they reviewed the current security situation in Iraq and the wider region. They noted that ISIS still poses a threat despite its territorial defeat. Therefore, they stressed the importance of joint operations and intelligence sharing.
Both sides agreed that cooperation must remain strong. They pointed out that gaps in coordination could create opportunities for extremist groups. As a result, maintaining close communication between all forces was described as a priority.
The discussions also covered future strategies. These include improving coordination mechanisms and enhancing field cooperation. Furthermore, they underlined the importance of continued international support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
In addition, President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed the commitment of the Kurdistan Region to fighting terrorism. He praised the role of coalition forces in supporting stability. At the same time, he stressed the importance of unity among Iraqi forces.
