Kurdistan Authorities Delay Human Rights Delegation Visit to Lahur and Polad Sheikh Jangi for Second Time

Kurdistan Authorities delayed a planned visit by a human rights delegation to detainees Lahur Sheikh Jangi and Polad Sheikh Jangifor the second time. The visit aimed to assess their condition inside detention, yet security forces in Sulaimani blocked access again.

First,Kurdistan the case involves both men, who are relatives of Jalal Talabani. They began a hunger strike after authorities failed to forward their legal files to the appeals court. As a result, concerns about due process and legal delays have grown.

Moreover, officials initially scheduled the visit for Tuesday. However, they postponed it to Wednesday without clear justification. Then, authorities delayed the visit again, which raised further questions about transparency.

According to Tavga Omar, the delegation received a new date for next Sunday. He explained that the team intends to meet the detainees and evaluate their health conditions. In addition, they plan to hear their demands directly.

Meanwhile, sources confirmed that security forces prevented both previous attempts. These restrictions stopped the delegation from meeting not only the two brothers but also other detainees linked to the Lalazar case. Consequently, frustration has increased among families and observers.

Furthermore, the hunger strike continues as pressure grows on authorities. The detainees demand that their cases move through proper legal channels without delay. They insist on referral to court and adherence to established judicial procedures.

At the same time, the repeated postponements have intensified scrutiny. Critics argue that such actions undermine trust in the legal system. Therefore, calls for accountability and transparency continue to rise.

The situation remains unresolved as the next scheduled visit approaches. The outcome may shape both the legal process and the condition of the detainees. Observers now watch closely for any progress in the coming days.
