President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Ali al-Zaidi on his designation to form a new federal government, expressing support for an inclusive cabinet capable of promoting stability and responding to public expectations.
In a statement posted Monday night on X, President Nechirvan Barzani wished al-Zaidi success in carrying out his new responsibilities and forming what he described as a broad national government that serves all citizens and works to reinforce stability and reconstruction.
“We congratulate Ali al-Zaidi on his nomination and assignment to the post of prime minister, and wish him success in his mission to form an inclusive national government that responds to the aspirations of our people and works to strengthen stability and development,” Barzani said.
The Kurdistan Region president also reaffirmed his readiness to work with the prime minister-designate and support cooperation aimed at building a better future.
He said Kurdistan remains committed to constructive engagement with the incoming federal government and sees cooperation as essential for addressing shared challenges.
Barzani’s message came shortly after the Shiite Coordination Framework formally announced al-Zaidi as its consensus nominee for prime minister, followed by his official designation by the president to form a new government.
Under the constitutional process, the prime minister-designate now has 30 days to present his cabinet to parliament.
Political observers view Barzani’s message as an early indication of support for dialogue with the incoming government and a signal that Kurdistan seeks continued partnership with Baghdad on unresolved political and constitutional issues.
The statement also underscored calls for a government that reflects broad national participation and prioritizes stability at a sensitive political moment.
The message forms part of wider reactions following al-Zaidi’s nomination, as political forces begin positioning for the next phase of government formation and negotiations.
