Qatar Airways to Resume Erbil Flights on May 10 Restoring Key Global Connectivity

Qatar Airways will resume passenger flights to Erbil on May 10, restoring direct air links between the Kurdistan Region and Doha after months of suspension.

The airline announced Saturday that it will restart services to three Iraqi cities: Erbil, Baghdad, and Basra. It will do so in phases as part of a broader plan to rebuild its regional network.

Flights to Erbil International Airport will reconnect the Kurdistan Region with global destinations through Doha’s Hamad International Airport. As a result, passengers will regain access to a wide international route network.

In addition, Qatar Airways will restart cargo flights to Baghdad on May 7. This step aims to strengthen trade and logistics links between Iraq and international markets.

The airline said the move follows the gradual return of operations to several regional destinations. These include Dubai, Sharjah, Bahrain, Damascus, and Kozhikode. Qatar Airways expects to serve more than 150 global destinations by mid-2026. This reflects its broader strategy to restore and expand its global network.

Officials advised passengers to check schedules regularly. However, they noted that timings may change due to operational and regulatory factors. The airline suspended flights to Erbil in February 2026 after regional airspace disruptions. The suspension followed a major escalation in regional tensions that affected several airports across Iraq.

Since then, airlines have gradually resumed operations as conditions stabilized. Therefore, the return of Qatar Airways marks an important step for regional aviation recovery. Qatar Airways said the resumption supports its long-term commitment to maintaining global connectivity while adapting to regional conditions.
