Ergonomic growth and sporting diplomacy are coming together in Erbil. Saudi Prince Turki bin Abdulrahman Al-Sudairi recently announced an exciting new initiative. He plans to establish the first dedicated polo club in the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, this project includes a state-of-the-art sports complex.
Prince Turki captains the famous Desert Knights polo team. He currently coordinates with Kurdish authorities to finalize these ambitious plans. Additionally, the prince recently held productive discussions with Arin Masrour Barzani regarding the sports initiative. Prince Turki praised Barzani as a visionary leader with a strong passion for development.
Consequently, introducing polo will pave the way for an exciting regional league. This league will bring together teams from Kurdistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. Prince Turki believes the sport will strengthen cultural ties between these communities. After all, polo represents nobility and horsemanship. These traditional values deeply resonate with the Kurdish culture.
During his visit, the Saudi prince marveled at the rapid local development. He noted that the urban renaissance far exceeded his initial expectations. Specifically, he credited Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for building modern cities and excellent infrastructure.
Moreover, the prince highly praised the warm hospitality of the Kurdish people. He felt like a local citizen rather than a foreign guest. He also lauded the breathtaking natural beauty and wonderful regional weather. Therefore, he actively encourages international tourists to explore the region firsthand.
Looking ahead, the Desert Knights team will eagerly participate in the inaugural matches. Prince Turki also promised to organize four international tournaments each year. Ultimately, he now proudly considers Kurdistan his second home.
