Sarhang Salah Unveils Independent Kurdistan Navigation Platform Built to Serve Local Communities First

A Kurdish software developer has introduced a new navigation platform designed specifically for the Kurdistan Region. The project combines artificial intelligence, 3D mapping, and GPS technology. As a result, it provides digital navigation that reflects local geography and community needs.

Developer Sarhang Salah created the application with a strong focus on regional users. Instead of building another global mapping service, he chose to improve navigation across the Kurdistan Region. Therefore, the platform delivers geographic information and digital services tailored to local conditions.

Salah developed the application using Java, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Moreover, he integrated artificial intelligence throughout the platform to improve performance. AI organizes mapping data, reduces software errors, strengthens security, and improves navigation accuracy. In addition, it supports efficient information management while protecting user privacy.

Unlike many international mapping platforms, this application focuses only on the Kurdistan Region. Therefore, Salah dedicated greater attention to regional roads, landmarks, and communities. Furthermore, he rebuilt the place-name database and restored Kurdish place names. As a result, users can access maps that better reflect local identity and geography.

The application also offers several interactive features. Registered users can create personal accounts, add business locations, upload photographs, and organize destinations with personalized icons. Consequently, the platform encourages community participation while expanding regional mapping information.

Navigation remains one of the platform’s strongest features. The GPS system updates continuously according to each user’s location. Meanwhile, the software calculates separate routes for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. It also provides estimated travel times for every transportation option. In addition, users can check weather conditions before beginning their journey.

The project highlights the growing strength of Kurdistan’s technology sector. Local developers continue creating software that addresses regional needs instead of relying entirely on international platforms. Salah described the application as an early-stage project with strong growth potential. He believes additional investment will support future expansion and introduce more advanced features. As digital infrastructure grows, locally developed technology will continue supporting businesses, transportation, tourism, and everyday life across the Kurdistan Region.
