Kurdistan Education Ministry Announces Changes to 12th-Grade Exam Dates

The Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced comprehensive changes to the 12th-grade national examination schedule. General examination directorates formally issued official notices to educational offices across all governorates and independent administrative areas.

Educational authorities modified the examination timetable to accommodate the upcoming public holiday marking Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. Education officials confirmed that public and private secondary schools across the Kurdistan Region must follow the updated instructions. Consequently, this administrative change affects thousands of students enrolled in scientific, literary, and vocational education tracks.

Under the updated directive, educational authorities canceled all national high school examinations scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2026. General examination directors moved those Tuesday subjects to Thursday, August 27, 2026, without making any changes to the examination procedures.

Furthermore, the ministry postponed all examinations originally scheduled for Thursday, August 27, to Sunday, August 30, 2026. Officials confirmed that subsequent examination subjects will maintain their original sequence after the official holiday break. This rescheduling provides graduating students with additional preparation time while maintaining standardized testing procedures across districts.

School administrators immediately began adjusting local examination centers to facilitate a smooth transition for participating candidates. Regional academic analysts expect thousands of high school seniors to benefit from the brief scheduled pause. Additionally, regional transportation providers may adjust municipal bus routes to accommodate the revised examination calendar.

Administrative teams expect smooth operations across examination halls under the newly updated regional timetable. Meanwhile, local security personnel will continue providing safety measures around designated testing sites throughout the examination period.

Annual national secondary examinations serve as a critical gateway for students seeking admission to regional universities. Therefore, effective organizational management remains a top priority for education officials and public service agencies. Senior academic directors emphasize that uniform adherence to the examination schedule protects equal educational opportunities for all participating students.

Furthermore, higher education admissions departments rely heavily on standardized examination results for upcoming university admission cycles. Officials urge students to follow official administrative channels for future announcements regarding national examination schedules.
