Economic partnerships and diplomatic alliances are reaching new heights in Erbil. Türkiye Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Erman Topçu, recently provided an important update on bilateral relations, reaffirming the strong bond between Erbil and Ankara.
According to Topçu, Turkish companies currently rank as the largest group of foreign investors in the Kurdistan Region. These businesses maintain the highest number of active corporate registrations in the local market and continue to shape the economy through significant investments and major infrastructure projects.
Topçu explained that these cross-border ties extend across several key areas, including economic development, regional security, political cooperation, and cultural exchange. However, he emphasized that the human dimension remains the foundation of this long-term partnership. He believes that strong people-to-people connections provide lasting resilience for the future of bilateral relations.
Turkish firms have played an essential role in the region’s reconstruction efforts. Their active participation spans more than three decades of continuous growth and modernization. As a result, their presence has become an integral part of Kurdistan’s development journey.
Ankara has expressed its commitment to further expanding commercial cooperation. Turkish officials aim to increase bilateral trade volumes for the benefit of both societies. This shared vision is expected to create new employment opportunities and support further infrastructure and construction projects.
Both governments continue to pursue a path toward mutual prosperity and long-term stability. Topçu expressed confidence that these growing trade networks will achieve even greater success in the coming years, contributing to regional development and a more prosperous future for communities across the region.
