Erbil Blood Bank Ready to Support Rojava

ERBIL — Health authorities in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region confirmed continued readiness to support Western Kurdistan as humanitarian pressure increases. Officials said the Erbil Blood Bank can supply blood at any moment if medical needs emerge in Rojava.

Dr. Sana Ergoushi, director of the Erbil Blood Bank, said preparations already exist. She explained that coordination continues with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Health. She also confirmed ongoing cooperation with the Barzani Charity Foundation. Therefore, officials believe rapid delivery can occur without delay.

Moreover, Ergoushi stated that Erbil currently maintains strong blood reserves. As a result, any shipment to Rojava will not affect hospitals inside the city. She stressed that patients in Erbil will continue receiving care without disruption.

Meanwhile, health authorities planned ahead for seasonal challenges. Blood donations usually decline during the month of Ramadan. For that reason, the blood bank expanded reserves earlier than usual. Consequently, officials now feel confident about handling regional needs.

At the same time, humanitarian concerns persist in Western Kurdistan. Displacement and insecurity continue to strain medical facilities. Therefore, Kurdish health institutions increased coordination to prevent shortages. Officials emphasized preparedness instead of emergency reaction.

In previous crises, Erbil provided blood and medical supplies to surrounding regions. Those experiences shaped current readiness strategies. According to health officials, early planning reduces risks during sudden emergencies.

Furthermore, authorities described the effort as part of regional solidarity. They stressed shared responsibility during humanitarian crises. They also reaffirmed commitment to medical cooperation across borders.

In conclusion, the Erbil Blood Bank confirmed full operational readiness. Officials said they will respond immediately if Rojava requests assistance.
