Erbil Sets National Record with 24-Hour Utilities

Erbil has officially become the first city in Iraq to achieve 24-hour water and electricity, marking a major infrastructure milestone. Deputy Chief of Staff Aziz Ahmad confirmed this historic development on, positioning Erbil as a national model for utility services.

This achievement reflects years of focused investment and strategic planning by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Prime Minister Masrour Barzani celebrated the breakthrough during the inauguration of a major new water project. The Emergency Rapid Water Delivery Project, launched in Erbil, is expected to enhance essential services even further.

In a public message, Ahmad declared that “Erbil is the first city in Iraq that does not have water and electricity problems.” He emphasized that Erbil residents now enjoy 24-hour water and electricity without interruptions.

The KRG now hopes to share its model of success with other provinces. Ahmad called for cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad, urging all Iraqi provinces to engage in open dialogue. “Let’s open the door to dialogue,” he wrote. “The Kurdistan Region is ready to assist our brothers and sisters across all of Iraq.”

This utility milestone did not happen overnight. It came after years of reform, infrastructure development, and careful budget management. As a result, Erbil now enjoys a level of service that other Iraqi cities still struggle to reach.

During the water project’s opening ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani addressed several pressing issues. He discussed energy delivery, water infrastructure, public salaries, and Erbil-Baghdad relations. His speech reflected a clear vision: to maintain stability and provide essential services to all residents of the Kurdistan Region.

The announcement also sends a strong message to the rest of Iraq. The KRG is demonstrating that with proper planning and investment, it’s possible to deliver reliable public services. The success in Erbil may now act as a roadmap for other regions seeking to fix their utility problems.

More importantly, this development shows that change is possible even amid political and economic challenges. As federal provinces face rolling blackouts and water shortages, Erbil’s model offers a path forward. Leaders across Iraq will now be watching closely.

Erbil’s success in achieving 24-hour water and electricity could redefine how utility services are managed nationwide. If other cities follow this example, the country could witness a broader wave of infrastructure reform.

The KRG’s offer to collaborate signals hope for stronger unity and shared progress.
