Iraq’s Zakho Signs Historic Partnership Deal with Minnesota

Iraq reached a major milestone as the Zakho Independent Administration signed a new partnership agreement with the U.S. State of Minnesota. This deal marks a turning point for international cooperation between the two sides. Leaders hope this agreement will create lasting opportunities in education, agriculture, and cultural exchange.

Gohdar Shekho, Supervisor of the Zakho Independent Administration, announced the agreement during a joint event in Erbil. He proudly called it a historic day for Zakho. Shekho explained that officials had worked on the project for an entire year. He stressed that the agreement would not remain symbolic but would lead to real, practical results.

Shekho also revealed that a delegation from Minnesota plans to visit Zakho soon. He believes this partnership will create strong bonds between the two communities. Leaders expect both sides to benefit from shared experiences and development programs.

One of the most important parts of the deal focuses on education. Tim Downs, President of Minnesota State University Moorhead, expressed strong support for the partnership. He stated that Minnesota’s universities can help improve the academic standards of Zakho University. Both sides aim to promote knowledge sharing through student and faculty exchanges.

The U.S. Consul General in Erbil, Steven Bitner, also welcomed the agreement. He called it a great step for boosting cooperation and friendship between Zakho and Minnesota. He praised the effort to build deeper relations through mutual respect and collaboration.

In addition to education, the agreement covers agriculture and cultural projects. Leaders hope to launch joint farming initiatives that benefit both sides. These efforts may include technology sharing and modern agricultural techniques.

Rob Kupec, a member of the Minnesota State Senate, joined the discussions and praised Zakho’s progress. He voiced his strong support for continuing this cooperation. He believes that this partnership will bring new economic and educational opportunities to both communities.

The Zakho Independent Administration also highlighted the importance of this agreement in a separate statement. Officials said the deal would boost economic growth and create better services for local residents. They plan to launch several development programs soon.

This new partnership offers a fresh model for international cooperation in Iraq. Leaders believe that strong ties with Minnesota can improve lives in Zakho. Both sides remain committed to turning their shared vision into action.
