The Iraqi Council of Ministers has officially approved the disbursement of July salaries for public employees in the Kurdistan Region. The decision was made during today’s cabinet meeting, which also included discussions about transferring funds for August salaries and upcoming months.
According to an informed source within the Council of Ministers, the approval came shortly before the end of the meeting. The move reflects ongoing efforts to address salary distribution delays for employees in the Kurdistan Region.
The source added that only financial procedures remain before the funds are deposited into the account of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Finance and Economy. Once this step is completed, the distribution process can begin. Officials expect that salaries for July will start reaching employees within the next two days.
At the same time, discussions are continuing within the Council of Ministers regarding the transfer of oil revenues and the resumption of Kurdistan’s oil exports. These issues are closely tied to Baghdad’s commitment to ensuring regular salary payments for KRG employees.
For months, the payment of salaries has been a pressing concern for thousands of families in the Kurdistan Region. The new approval provides temporary relief, but both governments still face the challenge of securing long-term solutions for stable revenue transfers and consistent payroll.
