The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has expanded its MyAccount program, reaching more than 600,000 civil servants who now receive their salaries through digital payments. The initiative marks a major step in modernising the region’s financial system and promoting transparency, efficiency, and financial inclusion.
Launched in partnership with local and international banks, the MyAccount program allows government employees to access their salaries through secure digital wallets and payment cards. Officials say the system aims to reduce reliance on cash transactions, streamline payroll distribution, and encourage citizens to engage with the formal banking sector.
To improve accessibility, more than 580 ATMs have been installed across 200 locations throughout the Kurdistan Region, enabling cardholders to easily withdraw cash, transfer funds, and manage their accounts.
The KRG emphasised that the program supports economic reform efforts, strengthens oversight of public funds, and provides citizens with safer, more convenient financial tools. It also aligns with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda to improve service delivery and enhance trust in public institutions.
The next phase of MyAccount will extend to pensioners and contractors, further integrating digital finance into daily life across the Kurdistan Region.
