Kurdistan: KRG Teams Move to Restore Gas Supply After Khor Mor Attack

KRG technical teams moved quickly after the missile strike on the Khor Mor gas field. They coordinated efforts to repair damaged equipment and restart natural gas production. They also increased security measures around the facility and organized rapid assessments to identify all affected systems. Moreover, they worked with local experts to prevent further disruptions and protect nearby infrastructure.

Energy officials said the attack created immediate pressure on electricity generation across the Kurdistan Region. They explained that reduced gas flow caused major power shortages in several provinces. Therefore, they prioritized emergency stabilization plans and directed engineers to accelerate repair work. They also coordinated with regional power stations to balance electricity loads and reduce outages.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Electricity held several joint meetings. They evaluated the damage, supervised field operations, and reviewed new safety protocols. Additionally, they communicated with international partners who support energy projects in Kurdistan. They encouraged those partners to provide technical expertise and assist with long-term resilience plans.

KRG officials stated that the region relies heavily on the Khor Mor field for energy security. They said uninterrupted gas flow supports industry, homes, and essential services. Consequently, they stressed the importance of stronger protection measures around critical energy sites. They also urged further cooperation with allies to enhance anti-missile and anti-drone systems.

The ministries reaffirmed their commitment to restoring full production as soon as possible. They also promised transparent updates for the public and emphasized their determination to safeguard Kurdistan’s energy future.
