Kurdistan Launches Program to Send Thalassemia Patients Abroad

Health authorities in the Kurdistan Region announced a new initiative for thalassemia patients. The project will provide treatment abroad for those needing advanced care. Officials confirmed that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani personally backed the plan.

They explained that patients requiring bone marrow transplants will travel to specialized centers. Local hospitals cannot yet provide this complex procedure. Therefore, sending patients abroad ensures access to life-saving treatment.

Moreover, the Health Ministry stressed that the government remains fully committed. They said the program reflects a broader effort to improve healthcare. In addition, they highlighted that international cooperation forms a key part of this vision.

Families welcomed the news with relief and hope. Many said the plan offers a chance for recovery where local options fall short. Community leaders also praised the decision as proof of genuine concern for citizens’ wellbeing.

Officials added that the program will not stop with transplants. They aim to develop better support for chronic illness in the region. At the same time, they promised investment in local hospitals and training for doctors.

Through these combined efforts, leaders hope to strengthen trust in public healthcare. They concluded that every step forward ensures that no patient faces illness alone.
