Kurdistan PM Barzani Urges Respect for Voters’ Will After Iraq’s Parliamentary Elections

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani congratulated the people of Iraq on the successful completion of the parliamentary elections, describing the process as a vital step toward stability and democratic progress.

In a statement following the vote, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to citizens who participated peacefully and responsibly. He said, “I sincerely hope that the voters’ choices will be respected.”

Barzani praised the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) for managing the process efficiently and commended the security forces for ensuring calm throughout the polling period. He noted that the smooth conduct of the election reflected the will of Iraqis to resolve political differences through democratic means.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the next stage should focus on forming a government that truly serves the people’s interests and upholds constitutional rights, including those of the Kurdistan Region. He reaffirmed that Erbil remains ready to engage in dialogue with Baghdad to achieve lasting stability, economic reform, and fairness in resource sharing.

Barzani concluded by calling for political maturity and cooperation among Iraq’s diverse groups, stating that respecting the people’s mandate is the foundation of a stable and democratic future.
