Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani: Election Marks a New Beginning for a Constitutional Iraq

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani called Iraq’s current parliamentary election a “new beginning” for the nation, describing it as one of the most significant milestones in Iraq’s democratic journey. He urged all political parties and citizens to view the vote as a turning point toward a stronger and more constitutional state.

Speaking after casting his ballot, President Barzani emphasized that Iraq’s future depends on genuine commitment to the Constitution, which guarantees equality, coexistence, and balance among all communities. He said that the next phase must focus on building mutual trust and resolving long-standing disputes through dialogue and constitutional principles.

The President also highlighted the importance of cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad, stating that partnership and understanding remain the only path to stability and development. “A constitutional Iraq ensures justice for every citizen,” he noted, adding that the people’s participation in this election demonstrates hope for a better future.

Across the Kurdistan Region, voter turnout remained high as citizens expressed optimism for meaningful change. President Barzani reiterated that the Kurdistan Region will always stand for democracy, coexistence, and peaceful progress within a federal Iraq.
