Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani Marks Journalism Anniversary

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – President Nechirvan Barzani marked Kurdish Journalism Day by reaffirming his commitment to press freedom and media development across the Kurdistan Region. He delivered a message highlighting the importance of independent journalism and democratic values.

The occasion commemorates 128 years since the first issue of the Kurdistan newspaper. It also honors its founder Miqdad Madhat Badirkhan. In addition, the day marks 28 years since the establishment of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate.
