The tourism sector in Kurdistan recorded strong growth during the Eid al-Adha holiday. As a result, tourist destinations across the region attracted large crowds. Moreover, tourism officials reported a clear increase in visitor numbers compared with previous years.
According to tourism authorities, more than 350,000 visitors traveled to Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, and Halabja during the holiday period. Consequently, hotels, resorts, restaurants, and public attractions experienced high demand.
In Erbil, tourism activity showed significant improvement. Officials reported that visitor numbers increased by around 10 percent compared with the previous holiday season. Furthermore, tourism teams implemented their plans successfully. Therefore, visitors enjoyed smoother travel experiences across the province.
More than 100,000 tourists visited Erbil within only a few days. In addition, many travelers arrived from central and southern areas. Local authorities also expanded services to support the growing number of guests. This tourism revival encouraged businesses to welcome more customers.
Meanwhile, Sulaymaniyah attracted nearly 100,000 visitors. Tourist sites, parks, and recreational areas witnessed heavy activity. Furthermore, tourism officials confirmed that operational plans worked effectively. As a result, visitors moved easily between attractions.
Officials noted a strong return of tourism activity across Sulaymaniyah. Additionally, many tourists came from different provinces. This increase supported local businesses and boosted commercial activity throughout the city.
Halabja also experienced remarkable tourism growth. More than 100,000 visitors explored the province’s tourist locations. Furthermore, local authorities coordinated closely with administrative departments. Therefore, officials monitored markets and tourism facilities carefully.
Duhok recorded another successful holiday season. More than 50,000 tourists visited the province within five days. In addition, thousands of travelers entered the province each day. Tourism centers, mountain resorts, and public spaces attracted large numbers of visitors.
Officials stated that Duhok offers accommodation for around 17,000 guests each night. Moreover, tourists traveled freely throughout the province. Consequently, visitors reported comfortable experiences during their stay.
Across Kurdistan, tourist destinations remained crowded throughout the holiday period. Security agencies and government institutions cooperated closely. Therefore, authorities maintained stability and supported tourism services effectively.
Officials also highlighted the importance of domestic tourism. Nearly 80 percent of visitors came from central and southern areas. Furthermore, this percentage continues to rise each year. The tourism revival reflects growing confidence among travelers.
The region currently offers more than 3,100 tourism facilities and destinations. In addition, hotels and motels provide over 70,000 beds for guests. Therefore, the region can accommodate large visitor numbers during peak seasons.
Tourism statistics also show continuous growth. Visitor numbers reached nearly six million in one year. Later, the figure climbed to approximately 7.3 million. Consequently, tourism leaders expect further expansion in the coming years.
