Oil Transfer Deal Progresses Between Erbil and Baghdad

The Council of Ministers held a key meeting to discuss oil cooperation with the Kurdistan Region. During the session, ministers reviewed the agreement to transfer oil from Erbil to the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO). Officials described the talks as constructive and hopeful.

The meeting highlighted both sides’ commitment to continuing cooperation. Baghdad expressed strong support for the oil transfer deal. Erbil also confirmed its readiness to move forward without delays. As a result, both parties expect smoother implementation in the coming weeks.

Previously, oil exports from the Kurdistan Region faced several challenges. Political tensions and technical issues blocked stable oil flow. However, recent meetings between the two governments created new momentum. Officials now believe the transfer process will improve transparency and benefit all regions involved.

Moreover, this agreement could help balance the national budget and support public salaries. Leaders from Erbil and Baghdad stressed the need for fairness in oil revenue distribution. They agreed to maintain regular dialogue and resolve future disputes quickly.

In addition, the deal might encourage more foreign investment in the energy sector. International companies have long demanded clearer rules for oil operations. This agreement could mark a step in that direction.
