PM Barzani Confirms Talks Ongoing on Iraqi Presidency

ERBIL – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani confirmed on Monday that negotiations over Iraq’s presidency are ongoing. He said the parties have not reached an agreement yet. PM Barzani stressed that talks continue and highlighted the importance of Kurdish unity during this process.

Barzani emphasized that all discussions aim to maintain stability in Western Kurdistan and across Iraq. He urged political groups to prioritize national interests and the well-being of citizens. The Prime Minister also noted that coordination among Kurdish leaders remains strong, even as negotiations with other factions progress.

The talks come after the parliamentary blocs declared their intentions for the upcoming presidential vote. PM Barzani said Kurdish representatives are committed to forming a government that reflects broad consensus and addresses the country’s challenges. He highlighted that dialogue and cooperation are key to avoiding political deadlock.
