Kurdish singer and activist Şivan Perwer condemned recent attacks on Western Kurdistan, highlighting the region’s ongoing vulnerability amid international silence.
Perwer emphasized that civilians in Rojava continue to face threats and instability. He called on the global community to take immediate action to protect Kurdish-populated areas.
In his statement, Perwer praised President Masoud Barzani for his lifelong dedication to the Kurdish cause. He described Barzani as a symbol of peace, noting nearly seven decades of leadership in promoting Kurdish rights and unity.
Perwer said that attacks on Western Kurdistan represent not only a local threat but a challenge to international law and human rights. He warned that failure to act could embolden extremist groups and destabilize the wider region.
Furthermore, Perwer highlighted the symbolic importance of Kurdish resilience. He said that despite repeated aggression, the Kurdish people have consistently defended their land, culture, and identity.
The singer also stressed that Barzani’s efforts have been crucial in maintaining dialogue, stability, and coordination among Kurdish political and military leadership. He said that the president’s commitment remains a cornerstone for protecting Kurdish rights in Syria, Iraq, and the wider region.
Finally, Perwer urged international actors to uphold their responsibilities and prevent further escalation. He concluded that the protection of Kurdish areas and citizens should be considered a moral duty for all nations, reinforcing global solidarity against violence and oppression.
