The Sulaimani Symphony Orchestra launched its 2025 season with a grand concert on Sunday evening. The performance took place on 17th of May at 6:00 PM in the Talari Hunar hall, a key cultural venue in the city. Under the direction of German conductor Hans Rotman, the ensemble returned to the stage with renewed energy. Organizers highlighted the event as a major step in expanding orchestral culture in the Kurdistan Region. The concert marked the orchestra’s first major appearance this year.

Ahmad, a member of the orchestra and a cellist from Amêri Chalo, spoke to Ava Media about the program. He explained that the concert featured five distinct musical pieces drawn from a diverse range of traditions. Among them, three compositions were Kurdish, adding cultural depth to the evening. Ahmad emphasized the orchestra’s commitment to representing Kurdish music on an international level. He also praised the collaboration between musicians from many backgrounds.

The Sulaimani Symphony Orchestra brought together 55 musicians for this event. Among them were performers from Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia, as well as artists from Baghdad. Their presence underscored the international spirit of the orchestra. Despite political challenges, musicians united through shared passion and artistry. The performance demonstrated the orchestra’s role in building cultural bridges through music.

Hans Rotman’s leadership also added a layer of international refinement. His experience shaped the concert into a polished and emotionally resonant event. Organizers described the evening as a powerful start to a promising musical year.
