Turkey Thanks Barzani for Supporting Peace Process

President Masoud Barzani met with Turkey’s Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan, in Pirmam, Erbil. The meeting centered on regional politics, bilateral ties, and peace efforts in Turkey. Ambassador Inan praised Barzani’s ongoing role, saying his support has been vital to the Turkey peace process.

Turkish Consul General Erman Topçu also joined the meeting. Both parties shared their views on the evolving political landscape in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They discussed ties between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Federal Government in Baghdad, with a focus on strengthening cooperation through dialogue.

The meeting placed strong emphasis on the Turkey peace process. Ambassador Inan acknowledged President Barzani’s steady and long-term contributions. He thanked Barzani for helping bridge gaps and encouraging dialogue during crucial moments in Turkey’s internal efforts toward peace.

This recognition highlights Barzani’s regional influence and historical involvement in easing tensions and supporting reconciliation. His efforts, according to Inan, have left a lasting impact on Turkey’s stability and unity.

In their discussions, both sides stressed the need for continued engagement and direct talks. They agreed that political progress across the region depends on steady diplomacy and mutual respect. Ongoing collaboration between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region, they said, is essential to facing regional challenges.

President Barzani reiterated his commitment to peaceful solutions, noting that lasting peace requires trust and long-term commitment from all involved. He welcomed Türkiye’s efforts to renew peace talks and expressed hope for meaningful outcomes.

Beyond the Turkey peace process, the leaders also touched on broader geopolitical shifts affecting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Both sides highlighted how regional stability can be strengthened through closer diplomatic and economic cooperation.

As the region continues to face shifting alliances and unresolved conflicts, Barzani’s presence and reputation offer a stabilizing force. Turkey’s recognition of his past and present efforts reflects a mutual understanding that peace cannot move forward without support from trusted figures.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both leaders committed to advancing cooperation. They emphasized that dialogue, security, and economic partnership remain at the core of the Turkey–Kurdistan relationship.

With renewed attention on peace, regional diplomacy, and shared security goals, this latest visit underlined once more the central message: the Turkey peace process needs trusted allies and strong leadership.
