Baghdad Must Release KRG Salaries Now: KRG Demands Immediate Action

In a firm declaration, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) urged Baghdad to immediately release overdue salary payments. The KRG emphasized this demand under the framework of the recent oil and financial agreement signed with the federal government. Throughout the article, the key phrase KRG demands immediate action will serve as the central theme.

Following a cabinet session chaired by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the KRG reiterated its full commitment to the agreement. The government confirmed it had already deposited 120 billion dinars in non-oil revenue into the federal treasury. Additionally, it submitted finalized salary lists for May and June to the relevant authorities.

Both KRG and federal officials are currently reviewing revenue and expenditure figures on a monthly basis. This cooperation is part of a broader initiative to enhance financial transparency. To further strengthen coordination, both sides also approved new procedures for synchronizing customs and quality control operations.

Despite recent challenges, the KRG remains fully cooperative in the oil sector. The KRG’s Ministry of Natural Resources provided full access to production data and oil facilities to its federal counterparts. This collaboration continued even after drone strikes recently disrupted several oil sites. Technical experts from both sides have now reached an agreement to transport KRG oil through the federal marketing company, SOMO.

The KRG’s Council of Ministers firmly stated that these actions clearly demonstrate the Region’s compliance. KRG demands immediate action from the central government in response. According to the Council, the federal government must disburse all delayed salaries and financial dues without further delay.

For the past three months, KRG employees have gone without salaries. The KRG described this as a violation of constitutional and legal rights. The government stressed that since the KRG fulfilled its responsibilities, the central government must do the same. Any further delay directly harms ordinary citizens and threatens regional stability.

Moreover, the KRG called on local media outlets to act responsibly. It asked them to avoid spreading rumors or misinformation that might mislead the public or undermine the government’s transparency.

As tensions continue, KRG demands immediate action remains the central call. With growing pressure on the federal authorities, the coming days will be crucial. The government must act swiftly and uphold its promises.
