Over 800,000 public sector workers in Erbil, Duhok, and 800,000 Enrolled in My Account Project Across Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaymaniyah have now joined the Kurdistan Regional Government’s My Account project. This major initiative is transforming how salaries are delivered across the Region.
The KRG launched My Account to move away from cash-based payments. Instead, all public employees will receive their salaries through personal bank accounts. This shift marks a huge step toward financial inclusion and banking access for every government worker.
The project team confirmed that the remaining public sector employees will be onboarded soon. As a result, all public workers across the Region will gain access to secure, modern banking services.
Last week, the salaries of thousands of employees in the Ministries of Health, Education, and Higher Education were transferred directly to their bank accounts. This achievement highlighted the project’s growing success.
In addition to public workers, more than 8,000 retirees in Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaimani have now received their pensions through bank transfers. These pensioners can now access their money at over 400 ATMs across the Kurdistan Region.
My Account supports financial independence and digital empowerment. Officials say the program gives people more control over their finances, boosts financial literacy, and enhances the region’s overall economic system.
This initiative represents one of the KRG’s strongest pushes for modernization and economic reform. It opens new doors for individuals and strengthens trust in the region’s banking infrastructure.
