A heartbreaking case from Bnaslawa, in the city of Erbil, has shocked locals. A girl named Khadija endured ten years of unbearable pain, all caused by a medical mistake. What began as a simple treatment for a headache turned into a decade-long nightmare.
Back in 2015, Khadija suffered from severe headaches. She went to a trusted doctor in her neighborhood for help. The doctor injected medicine into her thigh muscle, hoping to relieve the pain. However, just days later, she started feeling intense pain in her thigh. The discomfort kept spreading. Eventually, it reached her lower back and led to partial loss of mobility.
Over the years, Khadija visited several doctors. They misdiagnosed her condition, claiming it was a spinal issue. She even underwent many scans and treatments. Despite spending nearly $20,000, her condition never improved. She felt helpless, and her life slowly crumbled under the weight of constant pain.
Recently, a medical assistant examined her again. He noticed a strange lump in her thigh muscle. During a minor surgical procedure, they found a broken surgical needle buried in the muscle. It turned out to be the same needle from the injection she received ten years ago.
This painful discovery explained the cause of her long-term suffering. Khadija, who remains unmarried and deeply affected by her condition, said she won’t file a complaint. The doctor responsible is a family member, and she wants to avoid conflict.
