Erbil Opens Landmark Park at 120-Meter Intersection

Erbil has unveiled a massive new park at the 120-meter street and Erbil–Mosul road intersection. The project aims to boost urban greenery and provide a new recreational space for residents.

The park covers 205,000 square meters. It features over 10,000 trees and 22,000 vibrant flowers. Two water wells and reservoirs support the park’s irrigation needs. A large Kurdistan flag, rising 50 meters, adds a striking landmark to the site and stands over 4,000 square meters.

Sasan Awni, the Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, held a press conference at the opening. He confirmed the project was ordered by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and funded by the Prime Minister’s Office.

Awni emphasized the government’s broader goal to expand green spaces throughout the region. He said the capital, Erbil, will be the center of this environmental push. Officials also plan to establish a green belt around the city.

More parks will open in the coming months as part of this plan. These efforts are designed to improve quality of life and create cleaner, greener neighborhoods.

This new park signals a major step forward in Erbil’s urban development and environmental strategy.
