Doctor Warns Youth of Energy Drink Dangers

A heart and vascular disease expert has raised alarm over the rising use of energy drinks among young people. Dr. Zrar Hussein warned that these popular beverages can lead to serious health problems and long-term damage to the body.

Every day, large numbers of youth in the Kurdistan Region consume energy drinks. Dr. Hussein said this trend is dangerous and growing quickly. He emphasized that the drinks increase heart rate and blood pressure rapidly, raising the risk of heart disease and heart attacks.

He also explained that energy drinks cause more than just heart problems. They often lead to insomnia, anxiety, and mental stress. In many cases, people who drink them regularly also suffer from stomach pain, colon disease, and even diabetes.

Dr. Hussein stated that the risks are even higher for children under the age of 13. He called on parents to protect their children and prevent them from drinking these harmful products. He noted that children’s bodies cannot handle the chemicals and stimulants in such drinks.

Medical professionals across the Region support stronger awareness campaigns. They believe action is needed now to stop this growing health risk.
