Marble Removed from Child’s Airway in Erbil

A young boy in Erbil faced a serious health scare after swallowing a marble that blocked his airway. Fortunately, the medical team at Rizgary Hospital responded quickly and removed the object in a successful surgery.

The emergency happened when the 11-year-old accidentally swallowed a marble while playing. The object slipped into his windpipe, putting his life in danger. Doctors acted fast, avoiding delays, and rushed the child into surgery. Their efforts paid off when they removed the marble and brought the boy back to stable condition.

Doctors say this type of incident is common. Every day, children arrive at the hospital after swallowing small objects. These cases often require urgent care. The hospital’s public relations team explained that their medical staff is always ready to handle such emergencies. The doctors treat all patients equally and without delay.

Dr. Hewran Anwar led the operation. He specializes in heart and chest surgery. He worked alongside Dr. Abdullah Ahmed, a long-time pediatrician. Dr. Widad Taha handled the removal process, and Dr. Payman Abdulwahid supported the surgical steps. Several nurses and medical staff also took part in the successful procedure.

The hospital warned parents to keep small toys and objects away from young children. They advised families to act quickly if anything like this happens again.
